We are proud of our collaboration with master frame maker, Tiziano Zullo, a true bicycle artisan and one of the few producers that still offer a "made in Italy" bicycle frame.
Mr. Tiziano is a world famous Italian frame-maker, building race frames for the professional peloton, including Phil Anderson (Australian professional riders). His current focus is on custom made, modern geometry, steel frames for individual customers, whose signature is their colorful and artistic paint jobs.
Born in 1952 in Stallavena, a small village close to Verona, Tiziano Zullo’s family came from the small mountain village of Zulli. He started racing at the age of fourteen, for about ten years, in both regional and national races. In the early seventies, Tiziano was introduced to the world of Italian artisan frame building, and soon he too was building frames.
In 1985, he crossed paths with top Dutch professional team TVM, and became the frame supplier of the team from 1986 until 1992. The team was well known for such top professionals as Phil Anderson, Dimitri Konychev, Jesper Skibby and Scott Sunderland. The TVM team utilized the best frame technology available and Zullo frames would be ridden on the roads of Milan San Remo, the Northern Classics and in the Tour De France, Giro d’Italia, La Vuelta and World Championships.
In 1994, Zullo moved into the production of tig-welded aluminum frames, then combined aluminum/carbon frames, and then made-to-measure full carbon frames. Tiziano admits his first love is steel. Today, Tiziano Zullo produces steel frames, custom made for the individual. He is still responsible for all the frame graphics and some of the frame painting. You can be assured that if you purchase a bike from Zullo, you will be getting an artisan steel bike of the best quality, made just for you and to your liking.
In recent years, Tiziano has made steel frames for Rapha. The Rapha "inqubo" is made of Dedacciai Eom 16.5 tubes that are manufactured to his specifications. This Rapha frame was designed with his Japanese collaborator, Maso, - www.kinopio.com - and together, they worked out every detail. Realizing they could have a versatile group of customers, including, tall and heavier clients, they built a very strong and stiff frame that is also comfortable, and really beautiful.
