The “Cycling & Hiking on Lake Garda” offers a combination of hiking and cycling activities, exploring the beautiful scenery of our area.
Not just cycling at Lake Garda – our newest package includes both hiking and cycling guided excursions around Lake Garda, Monte Baldo and Lessinia. The “Cycling & Hiking on Lake Garda ” offers a true active vacation, with 7 nights at Garda Bike Hotel and a combination of hiking and cycling activities, exploring the beautiful scenery of our area.
During the hiking excursions, participants will be led by experienced guides through scenic trails and paths that wind through the hills and mountains. The hiking routes vary in difficulty and length and may include challenging climbs and easier strolls through the countryside.
For the cycling portion of the tour, participants may rent a bike from our Pinarello fleet or bring their own, to explore the area on two wheels. The cycling routes will also vary in difficulty and length, and may include some challenging uphill climbs, scenic descents, and leisurely rides through the countryside.
Meals are included in the package, and will feature local specialties and traditional cuisine.
The “Cycling & Hiking” package offers an immersive and active way to experience the beauty and culture of our region’s lake, mountains and agricultural areas. Participants can expect to be challenged physically, while also enjoying stunning scenery and the camaraderie of fellow travelers
The package is also available for “non cycling” companions, who can enjoy just the hiking days

DETAILED PROGRAM
DAY 1 – Saturday
Arrival, welcome and briefing. Once you arrive, you’ll have a chance to settle in and then have your bike fitting and a bike review on shifters, braking, riding in Italy, etc. In the afternoon, we’ll take a walking tour of the old city of Peschiera, visit the Venetian walls and end with an aperitivo in the charming village, before the short walk back to the hotel.
WALKING TOUR OF MURA DI PESCHIERA (the wall of Peschiera)
DAY 2 – Sunday
On this first bike tour we will discover Valpolicella, a land famous for its vineyards and its good wine. After riding about twenty km, we come to the eastern edge of Valpolicella, where the first climb begins in San’Antambrogio, during which we will go by the ancient Romanesque village of San Giorgio. We’ll stop for a nice coffee/refreshment, with an excellent view of the lake. A beautiful descent with wide bends will lead us directly to the base of the second slightly sloping climb, among the vineyards, and the return to the hotel.
TOUR VALPOLICELLA
Regular Option: 65 km, 930 meters of climbing
Shorter Option: 40 km with a return by Van
DAY 3 – Monday
We’ll let the bike rest, today is hiking day! We will take a 45-minute drive by van, to Due Pozze, and then we are on Monte Baldo! Boots, sticks, backpacks and we are ready to set off along the easy path that will take us to the Fiori del Baldo Refugio, or lodge. After traversing the woods for a while, you will come to a clearing where you will enjoy a breathtaking view of Lake Garda, and the Alps to the north. After a refreshing typical lunch at the lodge, we will return to the van with the option of descending by chairlift.
HIKING : Monte Baldo – rifugio Fiori del Baldo
OPTION 1:
11 km, 500 meters of climbing, 4h
From Due Pozze – Rifugio Fiori del Baldo
Lunch in the lodge.
OPTION 2:
10 km, 800 meters of climbing, 4h/3h with ski lift
From Prada Alta – Rifugio Fiori del Baldo,
Lunch at the lodge and a descent by ski lift.
DAY 4 – Tuesday
Once on the saddle we will head south of the lake, along the morainic hills. An easy to follow undulating path that will wind through various villages and towns. Along the cycle path along the Mincio river we will reach Borghetto sul Mincio, a beautiful small village along the river. Overlooking Borghetto, in Valeggio sul Mincio, we will stop for lunch to savor the famous Valeggio tortellini. About 15 km to return to the hotel along the cycle path or the choice of taking the van.
COLLINE MORENICHE TOUR
Regular Option: 70 km, 600 meters of climbing
Shorter Option: 50km and return by van after lunch.
DAY 5 – Wednesday
Today is your day-off to relax or explore. Verona, Mantova, Venice or Milan are easily reachable by train in a reasonable amount time… the choice is yours! If relaxation time is calling, lounge by our pool or visit some of the thermal spas that are not far from our hotel.
DAY OFF: free day or visit Verona/Mantua City
DAY 6 – Thursday
Called “the eighth wonder of the world” by Winston Churchill during its inauguration in 1913, as well as having been the opening setting for the James Bond films “007 – Quantum of Solace”, the Strada della Forra will not disappoint your expectations. Arriving in Malcesine by van, you’ll cycle along the lake in a northerly direction and then arrive along the opposite bank where, just before Limone, you will take a short trip on the new cycle path suspended over the lake. After cycling through Limone, the ascent of the Strada della Forra begins: 6km that wind along the slope of the mountain and inside a canyon, will lead us to Pieve di Tremosine from which you will enjoy a panoramic view of the lake. Back in Limone, the ferry will return across the lake to Malcesine.

Longer Option: 125 km with 1200 meters of climbing
DAY 7 – Friday
The Lessinia Natural Park is a plateau north of Verona. Leaving the van north of the village of Fosse, we will take the “Smugglers” path, an ancient smuggling route between the Kingdom of Italy and Tyrol at the outbreak of the Great War. The route, demanding at first, sees the highest peak at Cima Corno d’Aquilio, where your efforts will be repaid by a unique 360-degree view of Monte Baldo, Lake Garda and the entire Lessinia plateau. A short descent will lead us to lunch in a mountain lodge and then return by van.
